This guy is one of two logos I did for a fantastic game company called N2-Game. This is a small but growing video game company that is doing some fantastic work with Flash, Poser and creating original video games as well as some high-profiled MODs. Keep an eye on this company!
Mr. Don Gibbs (the president of N2), wanted some type of person/creature that shows strength for their N2 Rage video game engine.
The first picture, I did was the upper torso with the words RAGE in lava-like stone, glowing red on the bottom.
For this image on the left, I was asked to include the entire figure, so I had to erase the words and add a waist, legs and feet. It reminds me a bit of the Marvel's the Hulk- but I was going for a small compact brute type of look.- primative, but learned in bodybuilding.
On the first image head (which I also used for the full-figure); I spent hours adding fur/hair and stumble. I loved doing the leg hair as well as the teeth: first I had them really rotten, but I backed away from that... and have him large choppers with only a hint of decay. Maybe he has a dentist- you never know. LOL
Again, 90% of the piece was done with the airbrush mode in Painter, but I also used some rarely used layers to brighten and darken skin tones. All the body-hair was applied strand by strand.
