I guess I  haven't gotten  the 1904 World's Fair  out of my system.  Some of my  students guess where was this building from. All of them thought it was from Europe. Nope!  St. louis, USA!

This year, I decided to  go  grander  and well as do  a creative twist  to  this  marvel of history.  The image is  a little  cropped, as the shadow from the frame looked bad.  I consider this one of my  stronger contrasty (is that a word?), images. The reference  was pretty good, but  of course in black and white.  I  guess on the cyan small roofs  and went  with more of a  cooler palette than previous Louisiana Exposition illustrations.  This image was solely done before school or during an occasional  prep.   I sketched the piece right on the masonite, which I covered with a purple  wash.  It  was enjoyable   to  paint.   I found a very fancy and old  frame at my mom's  in which  she bought many years back from a garage sale.   This acrylic is  24" x 48."
