Years ago,  when I was teaching at McManus Middle School,  ex-heavy weight  fighter Gerry Cooney  came to visit the school and talk to the kids.  His nickname was Gentleman Gerry Cooney and now I know why- Gerry was  such a nice guy. He has a great sense of humor  and  is simply  a very nice person.  He's doing a lot of good for down on their luck fighters.  His lecture to the kids was a good one...  not the best speaker,  Gerry used videotape of him in the ring to get his points across about being a winner   by  walking away from   outside negative influences.

After Gerry was in the building,  I quickly rushed up to the art room on my prep and sketched this so he could sign it in the VP's office.   Thanks Gerry... You're the champ!
